What are you calling the 'player frame'? The current playlist? IMO, the only title formats that works well in the web interface are those which include only TITLE and excludes ARTIST and ALBUM. For example, if I'm viewing an album by a single artist where the artist name and album name are displayed above and the same on all tracks, I'd prefer to see something like: 1. Come Together 2. Something 3. Maxwell's Silver Hammer 4. Oh! Darling 5. Octopus's Garden rather than this mess containing a lot of redundant information: 1. Come Together by The Beatles from Abbey Road 2. Something by The Beatles from Abbey Road 3. Maxwell's Silver Hammer by The Beatles from Abbey Road 4. Oh! Darling by The Beatles from Abbey Road 5. Octopus's Garden by The Beatles from Abbey Road What then needs to happen is that ARTIST and ALBUM are added when needed. If I'm view a compilation album, the album name is known, so add only ARTIST. 1. Mojo Boogie by Johnny Winter 2. Ramblin' On My Mind by Michael Henderson 3. Pinegrove Blues by Sonny Landreth 4. The Sky Is Crying by Elmore James And in other contexts, add both. For example, search results, or All Songs in a genre: 2. Walking My Baby Back Home by Johnnie Ray from 16 Most Requested Songs 5. Let's Take The Long Way Home by Cab Calloway from 1942-1947 9. Flying Home by Ella Fitzgerald from 75th Birthday Celebration 7. Only Way Home by Keiko Matsui from A Drop of Water > I too think the large/small/no artwork settings widget should be there > at the bottom of the playlist display. As I said above, I think this setting should only apply to album lists and have no bearing on how any list of tracks is displayed. If you look at 7.5 and prior, that's how it used to worked. During the onebrowser work, it was suddenly used for some track lists. That's where it went wrong. Some fixes for the problems are in 7.6.1, but are incomplete and have caused a number of side effects, so it's a bit of a mess right now. > Either that or as Jim suggests keep the settings separate for browser > and player frames, remove the artwork size widget, put "artwork display > type in browser" into the prefs and obey it throughout the browser > frame. Track lists in the browse frame used to be limited to text only, I believe. If we want to add some artwork then I feel the options should be limited to small artwork (three lines of text) and text only, exactly like the current playlist. > It feels a bit strange to be discussing this when there are people out > there who can't get their scans to complete, and Logitech are employing > a Cat to tell them to go back to 7.5. Shrug. True, the scanning problems need to be handled first, but this needs to be sorted out eventually. -- JJZolx ------------------------------------------------------------------------ JJZolx's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=10 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=89220 _______________________________________________ beta mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/beta
