I did end up filing a bug. Here's my latest comment on it: By removing and rewriting the tags from each mp3 file that the scan aborted on, I was able to scan my entire collection. After scanning all the music files, the scan also aborted when extracting images from certain files. I used the same process and now the scan completes.
The only problem now is that SBS is often unavailable. This is sometimes due to the local IP address of the NAS changing itself. I don't know if this is the fault of SBS or related to the scan bug. When I began the process of adopting v. 7.6, my NAS's local IP was 10.0.0.4.
