What seems to happen with me, with my music on a ReadyNAS (wired), is that the first time the scan encounters any kind of permissions problem (or possibly tags problem) it either hangs (twice for over eight hours, until I aborted it) with no additional entries in the scan log or it aborts. In neither case is any kind of error message thrown. To me, when the scan has a problem reading a file it should time out, log an error with the filename, and then move on.
