This can be platform dependent on windows yes apparently as garym can
confirm.

I'm not assured that it is so on redhat linux .

I can of-course backup prefs and cache folders and put them back again
and hope for the best .

Proper upgrade-ability on all platforms is needed if this is going to
be any good .

I don't mind experimenting if it would be of real help help and benefit
me and other users,but this kind of hustle for a silly name change that
only is cosmetics, and does not do anything ?

Especially as for music it is almost the same as 7.6.2 as it appears
looking at the svn makes me wonder if the name change is only
superficial.

Is it simply the name of the rpm packet that makes it not compatible to
be installed over the 7.6.2 as an upgrade ?

Anyone yet running it on redhat type of linux, do we get a
"logitechmediaserver" user and is t running as "logitemediaserver"
deamon etc is these name changes as thorough as they where between
squeezecenter and squeezeboxserver ?
