I think the Software Update feature may go out to mysb.com whenever the local server doesn't have a firmware update in cache/updates. Mysb.com would have 7.6.1 firmware, since that was the last release. Make sure your local 7.7 server is configured to get software updates, connect the Touch to it, then restart the server and wait a few minutes until the firmware has downloaded.
