No, it doesn't. I Googled DVD. There really is NO standard definition for that "abbreviation". It is commonly known (and referred to in the industry) as Digital Video Disc. Yes, your term is used as well. So, a blue-ray IS a Digital Video Disc, i.e. DVD...period... And, by your definition, a CD can contain music, software, video clips, business data, whatever...
