Just to be clear, the following is exactly the same thing:
- A 7.8 beta as it works today
- A 7.8 official release with no further testing so it works exactly as
it does today
Does it really make sense to call it "official" without any formal
testing ?
I know Logitech have released official releases previously (7.6.0)
without testing and correction of critical bugs, but this doesn't mean
we should encourage them to continue doing this in the future.
In my mind it's perfectly ok to continue to keep 7.8 as a beta as long
as we don't start to introduce unstable changes in it which breaks it
for people who want to run reasonably stable software. If Logitech want
to introduce unstable changes in 7.8, it would make sense to do an
official 7.8 release first.
We will likely see an official 7.8 release or backport of the TuneIn
changes when Logitech eventually is about to shutdown mysqueezebox.com.
However, hopefully this doesn't happen anytime soon.
