I thought the view was pulling back a list of artists to display where role is
either Artist or Album Artist. The scanner doesn't auto-add album artist roles
yet. I suspect it will be the same effect - Various Artists, with either a
Artist or Album Artist role should appear in the list, but I suspect the
presence on at least one album with compilation tag prevents the display of the
entry at all.

What if you had a compilation with a different album artist name - does that
get displayed?

Not me personally; but I know other people do.

Edit: Oh, I just found one:

Album: Biosystems - The Biosphere Remixes
Artist: <differing track artists>
Album Artist: Biosphere
Compilation: 1

It's unusual for me to tag this kind of album as a compilation (I consider it a
Biosphere album because they remixed it and released it themselves, effectively
they are present on each track) - probably a tagging mistake by me that I set
Compilation=1 when I didn't mean to.

I have other albums by Biosphere.

I can browse to this artist via Album Artists > Biosphere > Biosystems - The
Biosphere Remixes.

I don't have any compilation albums with a specific album artist where I don't
have any other regular albums by the same artist.
