not quite sure where the humor is? server has used exactly this
approach when it introduced some previous new features/prefs, like TPE2
treatment.

might as well add this req too:

seems to me u might want to see what your ratings are in server, no?
seems low hanging too.

FLAC/Vorbis use RATING with a 0-100 range, where 20 is one star and so
on.
m4a uses the %rate% atom with a 0-100 range, where 20 is one star and so
on.

you could do half stars with the above, increments of 10.

here are the de facto ranges for id3 POPM (Popularimeter) frame:

224-255 = 5 stars when READ with Windows Explorer, writes 255
160-223 = 4 stars when READ with Windows Explorer, writes 196
096-159 = 3 stars when READ with Windows Explorer, writes 128
032-095 = 2 stars when READ with Windows Explorer, writes 64
001-031 = 1 star when READ with Windows Explorer, writes 1

And a syntax of:

Txt string | 255 | 0

Where the txt string is usually an email, the first number a 0-255
rating value, and the second number represents playcounts, (and is
basically ignored by all apps)

Ps. Somehow my attempt to edit actually deleted my post.

using: win7 64 + lms 7.9 & duet & ipads w/the logitech app, and ipeng
on an ipod
