I don't know why it matters what format you use. File size is not a big issue in this case. Compatibility is... especially when distributing a software application to a large audience, as jan is. I am about to release some software myself, and the format of the download / install is the easiest decision to make: you go with the format that is compatible with a LARGE target audience. If the debate is *.cab versus *.7zip, I would choose *.cab for sheer range of compatibility. In the end, jan should decide for himself... if supporting the 7zip format is so important to him that he would risk not reaching a larger audience, then he is welcome to make that decision.
