Modifier keys have been used as normal keys in games for decades, there's 
nothing especially new here.

Actually, it's similar to a button click where it's usually ok to press the 
mouse button, move a bit, then release, as long as you're still over the same 
button.

Tap might be a better word, sure, that's up for discussion.
