I also like Arkadia, but seeing as your tastes are similar to my
group's I might suggest Kingsburg. I think it's a little more than
35, but worth it IMO. It's got a nice mix of many different Euro
mechanics without too much overthinking. Yspahan was also one I've
had my eyes on that seems very light and fun, though I have not had
the chance to play. I would say avoid Munchkin and things like Killer
Bunnies. They seem like great options for a light game group, but
usually end up bogged down by the fact you need the other 72
expansions to fresh out the game... and by doing so you get stuck in
the "too many new rules" problem.
