I would recommend taking a look at Race for the Galaxy and In
the Year of the Dragon. If your group likes to cooperate on
occasion (and you don't have an overly-dominant player in
the group), Pandemic is an excellent game, too. I would like
to recommend Ghost Stories, as it is a really good game, but
it currently needs a better set of rules.
