Right or left, 90 degrees, as opposed to diagonally. Say you had two
square tiles. Orthogonally would be at noon, 3 o'clock, 6 o'clock, or
9 o'clock, so that the sides were together, as opposed to diagonally,
where the corners touched.

Agricola has rules about orthogonally placing room tiles, too.
