Right, but thats why I said it wasn't a valid "internet" address. I didn't want to confuse anything with detailed network stuff :) I just wanted to give an example of what an IP address might look like to people who didn't know. The thing is, when you give out IP numbers, it could go anywhere so I wanted to give something that wouldn't actually go out to the internet. Here's an example: http://74.125.45.100/ Thats google's IP and putting that in the address bar will take people to google. But there's no easy way for the average person to verify thats a safe site to visit from just the IP numbers.
Speaking of routers, as a matter of fact, my router actually works with 192.168.1.1 I also use a 3rd party firmware to add all sorts of neat features to it. Its amazing what stuff like DD-WRT has nowadays.
