DONT DO TALISMAN!!! I have played it about 6 times both the old version and the new one. I find it is a 2-3 hour snore fest with nothing but dice rolls and practically zero decisions. I even won 2 times and was just as annoyed with it.
I found Red November does work well with gamers and non-gamers. My parents even asked to play it again. I find you don't want to go beyond 5 player or there is too much down time. Go into it with the sales pitch. "It's a game about a bunch of drunken gnomes of a submarine. Everything is broken. Your Job is to stay alive as long as possible, don't nuke the world, beat off the Kraken and we'll all probably die. I don't like settlers much, but like it most just base game. Fury of Dracula is great, but you have to have everyone into it. If one player really doesn't want to play it will ruin it for everyone. The other 2 I havent played.
