This Christmas I received Arkham Horror, Munchkin Quest, and Formula D. I keep trying to read the rules for Munckin Quest but manage to be distracted by other things. I need to see if there is a universal head sheet. :-)
I played my first (solo) game of Arkham Horror and am ambivalent towards it. I think I was expecting a lot more by what I had read. For some reason I was anticipating it being very story driven but in reality it plays very much like Runebound. I also managed to find myself in this weird loop where I really couldn't get ahead. It was just a slow attrition where I was eventually being beaten down. As this was after about 5-6 hours I threw out the white flag and packed it up. It had taken up my gaming table for over 24 hours and I was ready for something else .... which was Formula D. I have only played the beginner version so far but I like it. It is essentially a roll and move game but you do need to strategize your speed when going into the corners. you can take damage by being to close to other cars or "blowing thru corners". I'm eager to explore the advanced rules which assigns wear points (damage points) to tires, engine, etc. individually. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "BGG Down" group.
