I'm not sure I'd call them "flawed", but they're definitely not my thing. I like my allies to be my allies, and my enemies to be my enemies.
I don't mind the idea of traitors though, but I feel that's very different- you still have very different goals, you're just not sure who the enemy is. But I don't like the idea that you have to help everyone, yet there's only one winner; I call it socialism and avoid it like the plague.
