I do not know papers but if what you write is true then Apple would  
have placed looks before content.
Also, when thinking what Simon wrote about Paper's BibTex  
capabilities it seems almost embarrassing to promote that application  
with "much better BibTex support".
I hope that BibDesk keeps going primarily for improvement of the  
content and not for enhancing the appearance. I do not dislike the  
looks anyways.
A shame, you guys did not make it.
