Funny, that's what happened to me a few years ago :).  Welcome aboard.

I think these are just scripts that call the actual pdflatex and  
bibtex binaries.  You'll need to install a TeX distribution, such as  
MacTeX from <http://tug.org/mactex/> or gwTeX via i-Installer 
<http://ii2.sf.net/ 
 >.  Either way it's a pretty large download.
