Although this is not the best place to ask questions related to  
BibTeX (better: the macostex list) in general here is the description  
from btxdoc.pdf (the guide to bibtex):

proceedings: The proceedings of a conference. Required fields: title,  
year.
Optional fields: editor, volume or number, series, address, month,
organization, publisher, note.
----

Collections in the way you describe them are usually just referred to  
as "books" or "booklets", as far as I am aware of.
But if you are using biblatex you are in a more flexible environment  
anyway, so as long as you do not have to collaborate on papers I  
would not worry too much about the strictness of the bibtex-system.  
(others may disagree on this)
