There won't be a possibility for separate columns, unless you  
duplicate the files to the fields (though there's no automation for  
this apart from script hooks). Though if you know you (almost) always  
have a paper attached, you could distinguish by the number of attached  
items (this can also be added as a smart group criterium).

To distinguish files in the detail window you can do either one of  
these:
- auto-file each file by hand (e.g. using the contextual menu)
- move the excerpts file by hand after it is auto-filed (in Finder)
- attach color labels to the files to distinguish them.
