Are you using the most recent version of htlatex? (I had problems with  
an earlier version.)
Did you update your installation using TexLiveUtility?
(Today, you wold have to install the update manually since the update  
option seems to be disabled until the next big release of TL.)

I am using

        mk4ht oolatex filename.tex

to convert files to OpenOffice files, which can be converted to Word  
by OpenOffice.
This seems to work fine with biblatex.

If this doesn't help, you should provide a minimal example!
