The lshort document is not going to help you with this. If you are
using MacTeX (TeX Live) 2011, then you already have biblatex and biber
installed, so there should be nothing to download. You can get the
documentation in Terminal with `texdoc biblatex` or TeX Live Utility.
I can't help you get started with this since I don't use biblatex,
but presumably in your LaTeX file you need something like
\usepackage{biblatex}
and run `biber foo.tex` to create the bibliography. Do you have an
example document that you're working with? Something like this
might be helpful:

This is why I suggested previously that longer documentation isn't
necessarily better... Hopefully the guys that suggested this
path can tell you how to actually run biber, but I strongly suggest
working with a small sample document first.
