Hi list, I've used BibDesk for quite some time, but have an issue that I would like to ask if there is a way to get around so I signed up for the list.
I used to add papers by downloading the .bib or .ris file from the publisher for the relevant paper. But these days I find it much more convenient to copy the DOI and then paste it into the GUI window. I have yet to find a case where it does not work. But I have one issue with this workflow though. I have set up a custom Cite Key format (%a1%Y%u1 which produces keys like this McCracken2004a). However, when I use the method described above, the cite key ends up as McCracken_2004 and I have to manually edit it.
