Any Kool-Stop pad is superior--as long it's intended for aluminum.
Black, grey, salmon, red, whatever. Alternately--even Tektro brake
pads pick up less schmutz than Shimano and Avids--which are the WORST.
I just put some Avids on the front of my city bike as that's all the
LBS had. UGH. Every time it rains, they pick up crap.

If you get the Tektro Cartridges--you get some sweet holders that you
can later fill with Kool-Stop inserts. The stock Tektro pads should be
good enough. Can't be beat for the bux:
