Directed to MR. Chawla,

what you are saying is creating a sane society... perhaps you are thinking
too much like a engineer where everything can be classified and the things
that exist have a asymmetric independent mathematical realtions, and you
hope to just twitch the variables and get the solutions of a perfect
society. Unfortunately, it is not so.

The human emotions, celebrations and all the joy and pain are the all the
part of psycho-sociological societal web of human existence. To prove my
point i suggest you to please watch "Equilibrium" or atleast read the
description of it on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Equilibrium_(film)

Now you are worried on world bank report which was prepared by some
consultant in the minimum wages paid by the world bank, who probably be
foreigner who doesnt know about the indian society and its marriages, or
would be a confused Indian born and brought up in a foreign country.

It seems that the main point has been missed by him, he is not against
indian marriage instead he is against the "Dowry" the biggest expense in
marraiges. But let me assure you even in foreign countries where most of the
mariages are love marriages but there is a small segment of arranged
marriages also and even in these arranged marraiges the dowry is given and
they are as expensive as any other marriages.

So, the main point of focus is not Indian marriages its the DOWRY, abolish
it and automatically the cost will come down.

Regards
Ashish Kumar
