Several weeks ago, I put a general problem on the Speeder Hotline online form and it came back as an error. (I grumbled at losing all my "wonderful" prose, but didn't contact anyone.) When Ann tried to report her incident yesterday, she got the same message. So I contact Det. Cindy Murphy of the MPD and reported the ongoing problem. I took the opportunity to mention that the new, general form was not very helpful for reporting specific violations of the sort that Ann was trying to report yesterday. What she did:
1) she reported the problem to the city's IT people. I got an e-mail this morning from a Tom Sweeney, who asked me to try to report something, and then let him know if the form worked. So, hopefully, this is back working. 2) she wrote that they replaced the specific form with the more general one because they were not able to keep up with all the reports they were getting. She said she was going to contact the people who deal with the complaints to see if they were caught up enough to be able to handle the specific report (license plate, etc., stuff) again. >>> Robbie Webber <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> 01/13/03 04:41PM >>> At 03:39 PM 1/13/2003 -0600, Ann Freiwald wrote: >Does anyone know how the "Speeder Hotline" works in Madison? The on-line form is no longer set up for specific complaints. It is more a form to report persistent problems at the same location: "Parents dropping kids off at XYZ Middle School consistently fail to yield to kids trying to cross the street." But you can fill in whatever you want. I have used it to report specific violations. Or you can email the TEST unit or send them a letter. My guess is that nothing happens. But if they get enough complaints from a specific intersection, maybe they will do a safety program.
