I hate to be negative, and throw cold water on these planning effort before they even get started, but realistically, if "they" (?) really want to protect Wisconsin's resources with these "Smart Growth" plans, "they" would have seen that the plans were up and running long before 2007. In four more years of development, there will have been so much sprawling growth around Madison and elsewhere, that there is bound to be very few pristine resources left to preserve. I see in the paper today where the realtors are real excited and complementary about this planning effort -- they get umpteen more years of no controls over where they wish to develop things. It's stupid in my opinion. The cards are pretty much stacked up against us, perhaps unintentionally, by those who say they are our "friends". The greater effect on Greater Madison is that the delays inherent in the planning process will do more harm than good. A plan that would have offered financial incentives for people to drive less would have worked better, and it could have been working right now had anyone but your's truly fought for the idea. Is it too late? For those still who don't know what I'm referring to, check out my old stuff on the bikies bcp page http://www.danenet.org/bcp on the Advocacy page, under Transportation Demand Management. It's been there all along.... Mike ________________________________________________________________ Sign Up for Juno Platinum Internet Access Today Only $9.95 per month!
