when it's dark, i ride with a front a light except in the rare exception that i headed out someplace in the daylight hours, did not expect to remain gone past nightfall, and neglected to bring a light. such was the case last night...
heading east on the section of wilson street between the two stretches of dedicated bike path i found myself inches from a opossum slowly crossing the road. i tried to bunny hop the poor thing but didn't get the rear wheel high enough. upon stopping and checking on it i found that i hit it in the neck it's neck and killied it. (yes, i know possum play dead astoundingly well. you don't grow up in creve coeur, missoura and ot learn a thing or two about the difference between a dead possum and a playin' dead opossum.) so there you go, yet another reason why riding with a front light is a fine idea. i never thought i would kill anything with my bicycle. what the hell to i tell the folks at the vegan society? -martin __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!?
