While I commend Matt for his commitment, I'm not sure that is the best
strategy. Everything he said was an opinion. He did not advocate violence - as
has happened across the country. He acted like an uninformed ass, but that is
about par for the course.

My feelings are that there is no way to win with these guys. They don't respond
to logic; they have no shame, and if you try to correct them or get your own
point across, they will simply make fun of you. They are like school-yard
bullies. The only thing that will rein them in is getting a note sent home to
their parents - and then having the parents give a shit!

So, I would suggest directing your energies at the advertisers on his show and
the station owners and managers. Make your case for equal rights - not special
rights - in letters, phone calls, and emails. Make it clear that you know who
supports this yahoo: advertisers and station management.

This has worked elsewhere in the country. Several advertisers pulled ads when
bicyclists complained about a DJ that laughed about running bicyclists off the
road. One was a Chevy dealership, no less. Station management disciplined
other DJs for suggesting throwing bottles at bicyclists.

But keep in mind that nothing he said was even close to that. He just picked on
bicyclists and pedestrians as a political force, not suggesting hurting them.

Good luck either way.
