Not everyone is cheery happy about the simultaneous closure of 2 very important parallel bike routes through campus....

Thanks for the advanced warning. I knew something was up when
it became necessary to hop irrigation troughs and other demolition
material on my Tuesday afternoon commute. At this rate I'll be
commuting through Fitchburg to get from the East isthmus to the
VA Hospital. Thank God those Fitchburg Police Officers are so
nice.

It's bad enough that the lake shore bike path is closed for nearly a
year (so that it can serve primarily as storage space for the Co-Gen
construction)!! In addition, closing that crappily constructed detour
path and then suggesting use of a sidewalk as a legitimate second
detour demonstrates just how dedicated the University is to finding
solutions to their "car parking problem." One by one, you continue
to eliminate options to the automobile until the University becomes
strangled in a sea of parking with not one stall close enough to the
"front door" for anyone's satisfaction.

Please give better advance warning when you shut down
Observatory so that I have time to plan my route through Fitchburg. Oh hell, I should just give up and drive!

Sincerely,
Pamela Barrett

PS - Renee, don't take this personally. I know it must be difficult to
work for bosses that have their heads up their asses!
