True, but a biker with mirror(s) and good situational awareness will probably see the car's mistake before it becomes an accident.

I can't believe those people I see biking with iPods. No matter if you can still hear somewhat; your hearing is impaired and your full attention is not on the road.

Darin - I avoid riding on Midvale Blvd., since I feel that in riding a bike out in the lane much slower than the flow of traffic, one day a car driver won't see me (because he/she will be distracted by being on a cell phone, combing hair, gazing away, etc.), and I will get plowed into. All that's required is one mistake on the car driver's part and my riding days (and maybe all my days) will be over. It's not worth the risk to me.
