The K-5 at both was the option I was advocating for - then every kid on either side of East Wash has a much safer walk/ride to school. K-5 at both option saved the district about $78k (mostly in bussing costs). According to the cap times yesterday, the consolidation at Lapham saves around $200k.
I have calculated that this consolidation, compared to k-5 at both means my daughter could be spending about 1200 hours over the next six years sitting on a bus, where she could have been reinforcing a healthy and sustainable lifestyle by walking and riding a bike to school. Of course, I'm not going to let that happen - but walking/riding to Lapham with her every day is going to consume a lot of my time where a walk/ride to Marquette would have consumed far less. -----Original Message----- From: Paul T.
