I'v actually been encouraged by the number of new
bikes coming out with dynamos as "standard equipment."

It seems that at least some of the large manufacturers
are starting to see the trend in bicycle commuting and
providing bikes with fenders, chainguards and lights.

there's also the Breezer Uptown and Electra Amsterdam
for a more relaxed riding style.

then there's the randonneuring bikes that've been
around for decades.  these are smart bikes for both
commuting and recreational riding.  lots of smaller
companies are making them, you just have to find the
right one.....fortunately we have some great custom
frame makers right here in Wisconsin...maybe a little
higher priced but compared to the cost of an
automobile...
