Dear Group,
I
Ah, men,-----"If you think I am being too hard on the decision-makers
who put us on the path we are currently trying to correct, let's
stipulate that they thought they were doing the right thing. But the
now-obvious folly of some of their schemes is humbling."<Whitney
Gould--M.Journal>----------but isn't the fault NOT the planners simply
exerting there tastes under a government monopoly of taste and actions?
Nor can it be said WE were at fault back in the early sixties---a cabol
of STATE planners was never----"us." The extraordinary legacy of
architecture which raised Chicago to the pinacle before the turn of the
twentieth century came from NEED and a MARKET.
