There's never been enough money to repair bridges in the US...it has nothing to
do with bike/ped projects. There have been plenty of years (especially
pre-1990) when bike/ped got zip...and it wasn't like bridges were a priority
then. If the money wasn't being spent on bike/ped now...it wouldn't have been
going to bridges instead I can guarantee.
This bridge problem...it isn't like every local jurisdiction with a bridge
didn't know its rating all along. The problem didn't pop up over night. Why
does it take tragedy for anyone to care about things in this country?
