Her response is indeed a model for all the spin-doctoring that has been
going on at the federal level for decades, with the level of
egregiousness having climbed precipitously in the past 7 years.
 
Those of us who have seen that interview know that what she said in the
interview is what is in her heart and what guides federal DOT policy -
"Bicycles are NOT a mode of transportation."
 
I among millions of others look forward to all the current crew of
cabinet secretaries vacating their posts in ...  Gaah! .... 15 more
months!

        This is the nice personal letter I got back from the Sec. of
Transportation after I complained about her remarks on the Jim Lehrer
Report about a month ago. I am no longer worried about how much the feds
care about biking and walking. Obviously all is well with Ms. Peters in
