This reminds me of that story about a former mayor of Monona who (when he was 
mayor?) pretty much ran down a cyclist on Monona Dr. --at least that's the way 
I've heard it-- the mayor person didn't want bikes on the roads.
And of course the first thing you see when Atwood turns into Monona Dr. are 
signs saying no biking allowed on the sidewalks!
