Dear Darin,

Certainly we are speaking in hypotheticals. But, is it not true that
when highway proposals such as the Interstate System are part of a
Federal mandate of sorts, that locations and standards are not done by
local folk? Those types of roadways and all that is not something
for the Village boards of back country America? Why wouldn't a
Federal bike path mandate be under Federal control. But maybe you
know more about this. Since this listserv comment was the first I had
heard about Federal bike paths as a proposition. Maybe you have
insight on some plan which has been in the works and advocation for
year?

Otherwise, we are simply talking whether we want our bicycle paths,
trails, and roads, with rules, laws and police to come from
Washington and your man "of change"--Barak Obama.

Eric

Eric,

I agree with your previous point, that Obama's position on funding for
bike paths is unlikely to be a deal breaker for a voter.
The rest of your comments don't make sense.

First you claim that Obama would be 'controlling' bike paths from
Washington, then you admit that in fact no bike paths are
'controlled' from Washington. And you didn't answer Mitch's question:
what do you mean by 'control' ?

Dear "Troll Feeder", Michell Nussbaum,

A basic question might be, "Select the item which does not fit with
the other items."----1. Bike paths, 2. Interstate Highway
System, 3. Hub Airports, 4. Hub Airports Air Traffic Controllers.
But even more directly, ----as of YET, bike paths are
not determined and controlled from Washington. As you might expect, I
would lead a charge to "privatize" the three Federal
monopolies you describe if I had the following to do so.

Why are "bike paths controlled and paid by the Federal government in

not
  worth mentioning?

P.S. to the group: please forgive me for feeding the troll. I
couldn't
  help myself.

   Dear TroyThiel,
<p>I hope you "jest" as THIS being the clincher for a presidential
vote
determination or even "swing" as you imply.&nbsp; Even in this
"highly
political" listserv ostensibly for biking, some might dislike "bike
paths
controlled and paid by the Federal government in Washington" at the
behest
