Mark, I'm glad you use a bell. I run on the paths sometimes (more often on sidewalks) with an i-pod , and I always make sure that the volume is low enough so I can hear bells/passing-on-left calls. A lot of people don't even bother to use their bells or say anything though, I guess they assume I can't hear them. But I also try to keep very far to the right.
There are cyclists who ride with headphones on too, it's not just joggers. -Monica (I guess I'd call myself an I-PLODDER.) ---------------------------------------- > Date: Wed, 13 Aug 2008 13:00:16 -0500 > From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > To: [email protected] > Subject: [Bikies] RE: Pink Barbie Car on bike path > > While I agree that a small kiddy car is a nuisance on the bike path (and > there is the whole electric powered vs. Human powered thing)... it's probably > equal to the hundred fast moving bike racers, 50 wandering dogs, dozens of > IPODDED joggers who are oblivious, and others that I pass weekly on my > commute. > > As they are MUPS (multi-use paths) I tend to employ slowing down and > expeditious ringing of my brass bell to alert all of the above that I am > passing.
