I think it goes far beyond Republicans.
Is there a way to convince people who prioritize highways over
bikeways (and other "beautification projects" ;-)) that bikeways are
good infrastructure?
Alternatively, maybe highway work will eventually work out great for

When cars go away we'll have a lot of super-wide bike paths.
