I don't know if anyone noticed...but Wisconsin has been ranked the second most bicycle-friendly state in the country by LAB (Washington state is #1) Which makes me wonder how bad is it in the other 48? Because even though there are pockets of goodness...I don't think we ought to be #2.

I'll admit that I haven't cycled in all other 48, but Wisconsin is definitely my favorite of the dozen-or-so I've traveled in by bicycle. Those quiet, paved country roads are a big plus. I think it's a bit harder to see from Madison, because even the "quiet" roads near here tend to be pretty heavily trafficked.

In fact, I see Wisconsin as a huge state that's great for cycling with isolated pockets of badness (names available on request). There are a lot of wonderful places here to explore, both on and off the bike paths. I could go on and on about it (and have, to people from other places), but you guys all know how you feel about cycling in Wisconsin already! ;)

Braking Noisily,
Mindy
