Actually, I think you mean westbound bike traffic, Mitch. And I think all six of the non- diagonal "spur" blocks off the square could use counterflow lanes. The big problem is that in all cases, the angle parking is to the left, meaning those backing out of those spaces would have to take a hard-right look for approaching bikes. This sorta violates a general rule with angle parking. Generally, angle parking doesn't involve backing out "across" one lane/direction of traffic to get to one's own lane. The only alternatives I see to this are (1) switch the angle parking to the right side of each of these blocks, or (2) push the parking further into the main-flow lane, and run the counterflow lane between the parking and the sidewalk. I presume that, whatever shape it takes, it means the sidewalk cafes on the "bulb-outs" at the diagonal corners will have to go, right?
