I just discovered that Wikipedia has an article about bicycle racks titled "Bicycle Stands". Photos of a variety of designs, how to break Toronto's ring and post racks, etc. but no photos of our U of W's unique duckbill racks. Any Bikies members also Wikipedia contirbuters so this situation can be remedied? The WI Bike Fed is referenced in the article.
Also found a US manufacturer's patented version of a staggered height rack "Specifically designed for space efficiency, Peak Racks Campus Racks feature One Side Loading with a Vertical Stagger to eliminate handle bar tangles. The vertical stagger also allows each slot in the rack to be used simultaneously. Peak Racks bike racks offer superior security by using Individual Locking Bars, which allow the frame and wheel of each bike to be individually locked with a U-lock, or cable lock." http://www.peakracks.com/bicycle-racks/commercial-campus-racks/ Jim On Thu, Aug 19, 2010 at 9:46 AM, STRAWSER, Charles <[email protected]> wrote: > Jim, I've seen pictures of a rack similar to the one you saw in Amsterdam. > > That one and the Belgian rack are wonderful in their simplicity, but their > elegant functionality relies a great deal on the population using bikes that > have a relatively uniform size and shape of the frame, and also relatively > uniform width and radii of the tires. {snip} _______________________________________________ Bikies mailing list [email protected] http://lists.danenet.org/listinfo.cgi/bikies-danenet.org
