To: Scott Rose, The LA Time/Nation article you cite failed to say how long the stretch was through that town. They said it was the only viable route. But why cannot the people with bicycles simply walk on that stretch. Do they have to make a schedule or get to work? Obviously this was a special situation and was explained. But slowing from the speed of a "work boat--i.e. 10mph" to that of a "sail boat--i.e. 4mph" is not all that great a hardship? Why make a Federal case and hard feelings over nothing? --Not to mention the heartburn and adrenaline to those who repeat this story?
