I stated this morning that it was OK to narrow Willy Street from 48 feet to 44 feet. I was in error. That would bring the bike accommodation below WisDOT desirable standards. We should never narrow a street that is already good for biking to a standard less than desirable and comfortable.
Willy Street should only be narrowed down to 46 feet. This would be a 10 foot motor vehicle lane and a 13 foot parking/bike lane in each direction. I ma sure that after the discussion on Midvale that Darin Burleigh will agree.
