Does anyone know if there any way to provide input besides attending a DoT
public meeting?

I agree, Robbie, that the design very definitely appears to funnel a huge
amount of traffic across the SW bike path and under Hwy 151/Verona Rd. I
wonder also if the right-of-way is wide enough to accommodate both a city
street and bike path at that underpass. The other elements of the project
bear close scrutiny for ped/bike needs both for detours during construction
and accommodation in the final design.

A person like myself with a busy family life and little time to schlep
around the county (even when the meeting spot is practically in my backyard
for once) probably finds it difficult to attend these things (and other
hearings, etc.) I'd like another method of ensuring meaningful input gets to
the planners. I fear that the only people who do have the designers' and
planners' ears are expensive lobbyists or people with a lot more time on
their hands than I. And I think that I represent a fair cross-section of who
is considered a significant benefactor of the $450 Million about to be spent
on this boondoggle highway "improvement". The type of family person who is
not able to attend these "public" meetings for reasons of having a complex
life.

If you are worried about this, or any other aspect of the plan, you need to
speak up to both the DOT, and to City Engineering, who is heavily involved
in the planning. If you cannot come to the meeting tonight, there will also
be a presentation at the Long Range Transportation Planning Committee,
Thursday, October 21, 5:00 PM in the Municipal Bldg - Rm TBA.

Note also this item in the third paragraph from the end:
"a new underpass at Freeport Road that will increase traffic through the
neighborhood. "
