I tried it too, and concluded that it really doesn't work well on Presta valved
tubes. I tried to reinflate 700x28's on the road and the second the dispenser
pierced the CO2 canister, it blew up the tube. (I was using a
Presta-to-Shrader adapter, so I may have been off-label as far as the CO2
system folks are concerned.)

Subject: [Bikies] altering the pumping thread, Co2 question

Hello all,

Need some advice...I tried the CO2 system and wow..instant 120lbs
pressure..nice but the force bent the stem..not so nice, because all that nice
pressure began leaking out..is there a secret to releasing cartridge
pressure...or suggested systems that moderate the cartridges?

Plus my usual adroitness with a new pump means I'd flatten 4 car tires to get
my tire up to 60 psi.

As someone already mentioned, you’re never going to get your bike tires up to
60psi by connecting that thing to typical car tires. The tires on my car
require somewhere in the neighborhood of 35-45psi (I forget exactly), but
certainly not 60psi.

Besides, I don’t really get it. sure, it’s an interesting exercise to hack, and
the small parts probably only cost a few dollars.
But what is so expensive or difficult about a purpose built pump you carry with
you (that’s probably no heavier or bulkier than the hack) and only costs $15?
