Man, what you want is a velomobile! All enclosed. Depending on model they come
with headlights, tail lights, turn indicators, and brake lights should be DIY
easy. As far as wipers, some models have them, as well as windshield defoggers
which is really well designed ventilation. Rear view mirrors are almost
standard but will a little ingenuity, a digital video camera, and a iWhatever a
review display is possible. Heck, some world-class speed demons don't have
windows at all and have forward facing video displays. Maybe have an all-glass
dashboard with all the tech info a cyclist could need at a moments notice -
speed, cadence, heart-rate, satellite phone, and a GPS with all the liquid
calorie stops listed. All this and more can be powered by your own beefy legs
(powered-assist is optional) and you too can be the primo bike geek of your
town.
Yes, I also want one so bad but my budget says to stay with my basic recumbent.
I'm geeky enough as it is.
But hey, there's nothin that can't be put on a helmet in the the mean time. I
have a couple of PB blinkies on my helmet. Get vented goggles that won't fog
up, a microfiber chamois cloth to wipe the rain and sleet off the goggles, wire
up some DIY turn blinkers and brake lights on your riding jacket, and you're
all set. Easy as that. ;-}
Best of luck,DJ

Does any company make a bike helmet with a GOOD built-in headlight?  I am a
firm believer in helmet-mounted lights for safety reasons.  I have been using a
Niterider but the batteries are getting old.  I have a Sigma Karma which I
would like to use, but the (flimsy) helmet mount which came with it doesn’t
line up with the slots in the helmet.  Looks like I’ll have to make an adapter
or something.  As usual.
Which really frustrates me!!  Do drivers have to fiddle around with all these
“accessories”?  NO!!  Cars have all this stuff built in.  Bike helmets should
too.  Man, I want a “car” for my head when I’m riding my bike.  Integral
headlight.  Tail-light.  Mirror…or rear-view display.  Face-shield.
Defroster/defogger.  Wiper.  Hans Noeldner
